1) Pre production (story boarding)
I have started to develop the skills to plan each frame in detail. I know that I need to include shot details, shot duration and shot type in each frame. This will make the video easy to film as it is well planned out and reduces the likelihood of having to trim the video down. It takes over 12 shots to create a 30 second short film which is a lot more than before. I need to work on my drawing skills in order to make the planning more detailed.
2) Production (filming)
I have learnt that the angle you hold the camera and the composition of the shots can become difficult to master correctly. The lighting needs to be correct in the filming of the shot otherwise it will change the whole mood and dynamic of the shot. Timing is also important in a shot, as cameras can be slow to start/stop recording, and it is prone to missing vital things out. I need to develop my skills on shot composition.
3) Post production (editing footage)
For the editing we used Final Cut Pro on the Macs, which I have limited knowledge on learning how to use as I am used to Windows computers. I have learnt how to use these programs, such as piecing the clips together and to export final videos to YouTube. It was a little difficult at first getting the clips in order and to make it run smoothly, but once we learnt how to do it, it was quite easy.
